The Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) will hold the Preliminary Examination of the Combined Competitive Examination, 2015 for screening candidates for the Main Examination for recruitment to various posts. The Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) came into existence on 1st April, 1937 in accordance with the provision of the Government of India Act, 1935 with Mr. James Hezelett, a retired ICS officer from London, as its first chairman.
Candidates’ age should be between 21 years to 38 years as on 1st January, 2015. The educational qualification, the exam requires is graduation. The candidate should be a graduate from any university incorporated by an Act of Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as an university under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or possess such qualification as may be declared equivalent by the government.
The centers for the Combined Competitive Preliminary Examinations are Bongaigaon, Barpeta, Dhubri, Diphu, Golaghat, Goalpara, Haflong, Jorhat, Kokrajhar, Karimganj, Mangaldoi, Morigaon, Nagaon, Nalbari, North Lakhimpur, Silchar, Sivsagar, Tezpur, Tinsukia and Guwahati. The APSC Combined Competitive (Main) Examination will be held in Guwahati only. The exact date of Preliminary and Main Examination will be notified in due course. The centers and the date (even after it is notified) for holding examination may however be changed by the Commission at its discretion. Candidates admitted to the examination will be informed of the timetable and the places of examination. The candidate should note that no request for change in centre will be granted. The Combined Competitive Examination consists of two successive stages, namely the Preliminary Examination and Mains (Written and Interview). The Preliminary Examination will consist of two papers of objective type multiple choice questions of two hours duration each. The syllabus consists of the degree level courses of the Universities of the State of Assam, which can otherwise be downloaded from the APSC website www.apsc.nic.in. The Mains would consist of General English, General Studies and two optional subjects which the candidates choose, the syllabus of which again can be downloaded from the APSC website!
